Rubber Process Oil

Rubber process oil, also known as “softener”“plasticizer”, is a kind of low molecular weight compound that can reduce the force between rubber molecular chains, improve the processing performance, improve the physical and mechanical properties of rubber materials, and reduce the cost.

It used to be divided into softener and plasticizer according to different applications in the past. Softener comes from natural materials and is often used in non-polar rubber. Most “plasticizers” are synthetic products used for polar synthetic rubber and plastic.

We use the word “plasticizer” to describe both now while they play the same role in the reaction.

Characteristics of plasticizer

1. Improve the processing performance of rubber: by reducing the intermolecular interaction force, making the powder compound and infiltrate with the raw rubber better and disperse evenly, improving the mixing process; Improve the calendering, pressing and forming process by increasing the plasticity, fluidity and adhesion of the rubber material.

2. Improve some physical and mechanical characteristics of rubber: reduce the hardness of products, fixed elongation stress, improve the elasticity of vulcanized rubber, cold resistance, reduce heat, etc.

3. Cost reduction: low price, energy saving.
